CAN YOU EXPLAIN THE COST?

We've tried to offer an accessible, interesting & exciting introduction to our trade at an affordable and sensible price. We work hard to keep our costs down, and our professionals have all bought-in to the idea of what we're trying to do - they all help out for less than their typical daily rates.  Some schools bear the full cost, others choose to subsidise the outlay for their students, whilst some schools don't have the budget so students & their families who wish to take up the opportunity pay the cost themselves (we do prefer payments to be channeled through the schools).  At £200 per student (£250 for three days)  we think the workshops are terrific value.

WHERE DO I NEED TO BE AND HOW DO I GET THERE?

Typically, on Day One we'll start with an Introductory session at about 10am at Northumbria University.

Our starting point is usually the Law/Business Building - we'll supply details in advance.

On one of the days you'll be walking between St James' Pk and the BBC Studios (about a ten minute walk). The Newcastle United Foundation staff member will be on hand to accompany the group if students wish - otherwise they'll meet you there.

It's worth pointing out that we don't chaperone students at lunchtimes - the responsibility for finding your way to the next session on time is down to you!

HOW MANY PLACES ARE THERE?

We set a nominal limit of 25 places per workshop, and we can run two groups in parallel each week. So a total of 50 students per week is our maximum number. 15 students is our minimum operational level; as places are reserved we'll let you know the status of your booking (provisional or confirmed) depending on numbers for that particular workshop. Please email us with your likely requirements and preferred dates.

WHAT SORT OF WORK IS INVOLVED?

Our workshops are a bridge between school and the workplace - similar to University.
Sessions vary in style - some are in lecture form, some seminars, some workshops, some tours -

all offer the chance for interaction with industry professionals ... engagement and enthusiasm is the key. The only piece of work we'll ask you to submit is an informal 'article' about the workshop at the end of the week.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING AND WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Sustenance and tools are down to you.

We don't provide lunch but we'll make sure there's time between sessions for you to eat your own or to purchase something nearby (from St James' Pk it's a short stroll to Tesco Express or into town, and at the University the student cafes are available to you).

Bring a pen & notebook (it's always good to be prepared). If you have a smartphone or tablet which enables you to get online then it may be useful in a couple of the sessions, but not essential. There's no need to wear school uniform, just consider the first impression you'd like to make...
